Making science accessible
Making science accessible
Anybody can ‘communicate’ science, but it’s much harder to do it effectively and without perverting facts and reason. Think of the discommunication queen herself: Gwyneth Paltrow. Her ‘health’ brand, Goop, is built on misinterpretations of cherry-picked scientific research over the mountain of contradictory peer-reviewed scientific and medical evidence.
Far too often, people with power (Cough* Gwyneth *Cough) wield their platform and influence to convince others to follow them and take their word as gospel - in many cases, follow them to the 'shop' section of their website to buy their snake oil backed by little to no science.
Unfortunately, most people are unable to discern trustworthy from untrustworthy sources and are often victims of frighteningly effective discommunication tactics.

I'm a reproductive biologist PhD and science communicator, so I've been through the wringer with academia. Thankfully, that same wringer equipped me with the skills to pick out what's reliable and what's unreliable information.
With this blog, I want to continue helping people understand and become passionate about science and be able to see through the snake oil and lies sold to us every day. The only way to do that is to practice what I preach: To communicate fun, reliable science. So, if you're interested in separating fact from fiction and want to learn a few cool science-y things on the way, this is the place for you!
You can send me a message or ask me a general question using this form.
I will do my best to get back to you soon!
